I have been producing theatre for over 20 years. For 15 of those years, I founded and ran Fugue Theatre, a company dedicated to the commissioning, development, and production of original Canadian chamber operas and musicals. This led to me being curious about directing. Undeterred, I went back to school and earned my MFA in Directing from The University of British Columbia. I look forward to many more adventures in this area.
NEW!
I am once again delving into the world of artistic direction by becoming Stage to Page’s latest collaborator as Associate Director. Stage to Page Performance Society explores innovative ways to support the development of spoken word, theatre, dance, music, new media, and literary arts. It applies interdisciplinary approaches to education, professional development, and collaboration between communities and sectors. Since my goals as a professional artist is to work with integrity and foster healthy, collaborative relationships, Stage to Page is an excellent space within which to do this.
A romantic comedy written by Johnny Trinh and Trevor Copp tells the story about family and acceptance through the lens of intercultural and intergenerational relationships, and queerness, and investigates dealing with dementia and death.
Set in a family restaurant, the play centres around Colin, a chef who is taking ownership of his family's Vietnamese restaurant after graduating from French culinary school. He obsessively works to perfect and elevate his signature soup. He finds a spark with Italian food writer, Timothy and a spicy relationship is ignited over tastings and comment cards.
Along for the ride is sassy, no-bullshit, Stephanie, Colin's sister who has kept the restaurant together since their parents passed on the aprons to them; and Julia- Colin's best friend who helps him dream.
Full production is slated for 2026.
I directed and facilitated the development of a new play, written by Olivia Etey. It was workshopped, and receive a staged reading October 19, 2024 at Presentation House Studio space. The goal is to provide a full production for this heartwarming tale of a woman in her 70s who refuses to let Gravity get her down after the death of her husband. She enters the world of online dating and discovers how much the world still has to offer by living in the moment.
